I’m not really into this motion control phase that the world seems to love. It’s almost like the “virutal reality” phase we went through in the 90s and it’s pretty much the same concept. But it really boils down to what games you are playing and whether they are “good” or not.
For instance, I don’t know one person that isn’t a casual gamer who likes the Wii. And even then, I don’t know anyone who plays their Wii still, let alone buy games for it. You know why? Shovelware. Because people started thinking for a second and thought “Gee, I own 4 tennis games” and realized that their system has gained so much popularity that developers just throw out any game now cause it will sell no matter what.
And really, thats a genius money making concept. But not great for the consumers who buy into it.
So here comes Project Natal… here’s what I think.
a) Tell me, how will this be different? I would love to know how this genius new add-on for Xbox 360 will not have immense shovelware for casual gamers.
b) Popular games that are developed for it will either suck hard, or be awesome. No middle ground.
c) This isn’t groundbreaking. At all. Sure for casual games like on the Wii it will work, but what about other genres? RPGs? Are you going to have to select what attack to use with your hand? What about Shooters? What about fighting games? (big lulz?) This wont appeal to everyone. Not even close.
What do you think?
